I accidentally destroyed a spider web in the garden a couple of hours ago.

My determined eight-legged friend is just applying the finishing touches to his new web and he didn't moan once. Hope he gets a few of these wasps for supper.

It can't be easy trying to live in the land of giants. We don't get many spiders in our house, but I am afraid that my companions tend to eat the ones that find their way here. It's a cat thing!
If a spider does not choose to work neither shall he eat. A twist on Thatcher's take from the good book.
The least you can do is kill a fly and stick it to the center of his web.

does it have to be alive? i have a dead wasp on the window sill Zacs.:)
You must live in a very liberal environment. I live in a dictatorship where there is a maniacal edict of genocidal temdencies towards our eight legged friends by Mrs Octo. I help them into hiding before smuggling them across the border.
Might be past it's 'best by' date Doc.

He's sat in the centre. Must be knackered.
He's waiting for a meal delivery.
Maybe he's feeling chilly so has gone for central eating.
Lol octavius, at the moment all the biggies are outside spinning away, one is attached to my washing line taking up a huge space, can't hang my smalls there now.
Question Author
Just popped a wasp on the web and he's wrapped it up for later.

How sexist of me. He could be a she.
I love spiders' webs in the winter, all lovely and shimmery.

Have a house-trained spider near the front door, I refuse to destroy it's web.
Not if its got nine legs.
a nine-legged spider would be easy to spot, it would limp.
Also it would have problems buying roller-skates.
An 8-legged one only needs to buy 4 pairs.
not to mention trousers.
Question Author
alba, the ninth leg could be used as a brake.
Any self respecting male spider would not put a roller skate on its "ninth" leg. Only politicians do that sort of thing.
He could of course be entered into the Guinness book of Records, and the ninth leg would be useful as a brake if he takes up skateboarding.
LOL, you do know I'm going to have to find a cartoon spider wearing roller skates and using a brake now don'tcha? :-D

The dead wasp has been cut off and discarded. This fella only likes fresh food.
