I play the lottery via direct debit, 3 lines on a Weds and 3 on a Sat.

they've written to me to say that the ticket prices are doubling (they almost make it sound like I should be grateful!) and my direct debit will cease unless I adjust it.

well, I'm not going to! so, where should I be spending my £6 a week? other lotteries? the pools? where will I have the best chance of winning something worthwhile?

and is anyone else pulling out of the National Lottery when it doubles in price?

when I remortgaged I had some capital, which I put into premium bonds. they won £50 every month, until I withdrew the majority.

I just think the odds are stacked against all but the biggest investors.

i have joined the magpas lottery

at least i know that my monthly debit is going to a very good cause
I'm reluctantly going to continue playing as I am stupid enough to have played the same numbers from the start, would be sods law. Have managed in all that time a few tenners :( My time will come.....:/

I play the Postcode Lottery and did play the Health Lottery, I don't know why I stopped the Health Lottery as I won a few hundred pounds on several occasions!
Kyles. If you don't look at the winning numbers then you'll save a few quid.
Camelot know how to make a profit.

They are doubling the price and in recent years the jackpot has reduced by half.

I'll be spending the same amount, what I do divides by 2,
so half the entry
Jeza, I couldn't help myself, you know what it's like !! :)

kylesmum, I've always used the same numbers but I play by direct debit, and can't even remember what my numbers are anymore!

sir.prize, precisely!

im deffo pulling out when the price doubles and will prob do the health lottery instead.ive had 22 premium bonds since the early 70s and have won 2 fifty pound prizes so far :)
The Irish lottery, my son does it.
Yes I play by direct debit and have done the same two lines since the beginning, big mistake. Over the years I have won five lots of £10 and once I got £54.
Not a great return.
I am going to stop and never look at the results.
Our local pub has 3 separate syndicates all spending up to £40 per week each as they all do the Sat & Wed draws and all 3 syndicates are pulling out of the National Lottery as I suspect many syndicates will do, Yes they have shot themselves in the foot bigtime! - PS they have all emailed Camelot bout the price hike but have not had the courtesy of a reply.
