Do you have the wifi icon bottom right of the screen, near the clock?
embee......If you are not able for the moment to access the Internet with your Asus, how have you posted into AB. ?

Alston, OP may have a desktop, laptop, netbook, tablet and smartphone; or could be using a friend's, internet cafe or her parents'. Does it matter?

I used my old windows XP. incidentally, I have now managed to turn my wifi on and am typing this on my new laptop. Now I'll have to get used to working with this instead or even as well as. My 0ld XP is still connected via Ethernet. I'm going to set up a home network too so I can use my printer on both. Wish me luck! Thanks for your interest hc4361 and Alston.
Hi embee.....Great news and I certainly wish you luck. I have read that Windows 8 is completely different to anything which has gone before. However, it has been said that, once you get accustomed to the format, you will think that previous Windows were rubbish.

Best wishes.....Al.
Good luck, embee! I love W8 on my desktop, but at night the flying insects play havoc with the touchscreen.

Something you should be aware of if your pc starts doing funny things or you can't find your cursor :)
Al, once you get past the splash screen and tiles it's not that different from W7.

Do you remember when the Windows start button was ridiculed because you had to press 'start' to turn off?
