Hello EVers,
Today's offering was fairly straightforward, but definitely enjoyable. The grid population was a bit pedestrian, and despite that resulted in me going anti-clockwise round the perimeter! I must admit that I had never heard of the third twosome, but it appears in my BRB, the 9th edition. Is this the first offering by Moordon?
Time for a glass of Tempranillo, it has been very pleasant this afternoon sitting in the sunshine on the patio, with the occasional glass of beer!

Hi DocHH.

Enjoy your tipple.

Watching the cricket means I have only just started on today's
puzzle but I was pleased to read that one of our own little group,
Christiana, won EV 1079.
Well done Jackie

Congratulations Christiana! It probably seems a long while ago now K, but did you enjoy you time in Italy with your family in June? If I am correct you were anticipating good company, good food and good wine!
Hello everyone. Got on like a house on fire with this offering. but got stuck at the last hurdle 10 down , Cannot make head or tail of this clue ( Is this the abbrevaiation ) . Any hints woiuld be much appreciated thank you

Hello Shoni70,
You are looking for a word that means money. The first letter is indicated by "one's first", then a word meaning "in". At times I have heard the resultant word expressed as a word of surprise, particularly by Batman or Robin. I always respond with hints rather than the answer. On the other hand the answer is in Bradford's! If you haven't got one I'd reccommend it, at £20.00 from Smiths, "other bookshops are available" it is a real boon! Every household shoud have one!
Relatively easy, no less entertaining for it.
It turned out more straightforward than I had first thought.

DocHH I had a lovely time thank you. I hope to go back in a
couple of weeks for more of the same. I can't believe how my latest
grandson has turned from a toddler into a handsome young man
( I'm biased I know)!

K, pleased to hear you enjoyed yourself! Grandparents have every right to be biased! Enjoy your next visit. I had a neighbour when I lived in North London who adored her grandchildren. She said it was lovely to see them. but also lovely to see them go! The tempranillo washed down a chicken sandwich!
So straightforward I nearly forgot to post about it.

The rest of the b family is in Spain this week, no doubt about to enjoy a glass of Tempranillo or two. I plan to be extra productive with the new semester just three weeks away.
Would anyone mind giving me a hint for 8d please? I have the first two letters (I think they are right) and have gone through the dictionary, but can't find anything that fits.
Thank you.
Congratulations to Christiana from me too - good to see a familiar name.

Cloverjo, 8d and 10d were the last for me as I had rushed in with an incorrect perimeter word.
8d is a double definition - the first three and last two words - and the fabric (cloth) is in Bradford's.
I see there is a new edition of the latter due out in October.
Thank you, Slaney. I missed the cloth definition of that word when looking through the dictionary.
Good Morning All! Haven't seen the EV as yet as have just got backfrom middle niece's excellent wedding near Bath. Bro-in-law collected the ST and haven't tracked it all down yet! Looks hopeful. Many congrats to you Christina, just love it when one of the 'mob' wins, that one drove me quite mad as I couldn't quite finish it and knew I should as I had all the components.....aahh well. Will begin as soon as the unpacking done.
Congratulations from me too, Christiana.

A gentle romp but enjoyable enough after a busy weekend away. I don't think I was up to a stinker.
Hi all,

Very hasty message as in the wilds of Cornwall, and I mean the wilds. No internet, no signals for same, only just discovered I won the 1079 EV. Thanks for good wishes. Incidentally it was sent in by Email. Currently in St. Austell library but logout in ten minutes. Not tried this week's EV yet.
Many congratulations to you Christiana!!
