At a local tandoori last night with step-daughter and family. Wife's lamb dhansak turned up weirdly sweet. her judgment: I think the chef's used sugar rather than salt. Complained to waiter. Dish returned to kitchen. Re-emerged waiter conveying profuse apologies from chef and the bizarre plea in mitigation: chef's been under some pressure - it's Ramadan. Remember Gourmet Night at Fawlty Towers?

Hadn't looked at it like that RowanWitch!
I thought Dhansaks were meant to be sweet. I sent one back a few weeks ago because it didn't have any sweetness at all.
It sounds a right Ramadan-a-lamb-a-ding-dong and no mistake.
