Does bark mulch need a weed suppressor under it or is it good enough without.

If your thinking of using on your flowerbeds then a membrane isn't needed. I've just done my flowerbeds to act as a suppressor, do it every year because it will rot down in the winter.

If your doing it as a much longer period of time then a weed suppressing membrane underneath might be a good idea.

Thank you SlackAlice,Yes it's for long term as we intend putting a couple of large pots on it at the back of our static van.
I put bark chippings down and the cats used it as a toilet so beware!
