Just moved into a new property. Have an alcoholic living above who is causing a lot of nuisance to myself and the two other leaseholders. Various things, but highly unpleasant individual, male, and the rest of us are females and we are feeling really threatened, and uncomfortable living in the same building. What is more annoying is that we all own the flats and will soon be getting the freehold. Has anyone got any ideas what we can do about this chap? We have reported all incidents to the Landlord, who seems decidedly disinterested. There is no point in trying to 'talk' to him, it would serve no purpose and would probably only serve to make him more annoying and to cause us more problems, because that is the sort of person he is. I am logging all the issues, and report each and every one to my Landlord as and when they happen. Would it be worth getting some free advice from a Solicitor. Surely this bloke has already breached the terms of his Lease?

There is nothing more you can do , you are already reporting all incidents to the landlord. If he does something illegal such as threatening you then report it to the police not the landlord.
It is not clear what this person actually does that causes concern , can you be more specific ?
You are entitled to "quiet enjoyment " of your flat, and the landlord is in breach of his duty to provide that. A visit to a solicitor with your evidence and any statements of other tenants, should put the landlord straight immediately.
If there is no express covenant the Common law will imply for the Landlord to provide for quiet enjoyment of the premises as fred, who is very knowledgeable on such matters, says. If there is a breach of this covenant you may have a remedy against the Landlord. Consult a solicitor with full information and ask them to write to the Landlord regarding this implied or express covenant reminding them of their responsibilities, if the action by others is criminal as Eddie says go to the police.
When you get the freehold you may have to set up a management company. Then you could have as part of the articles and rules you need only 75% agreement on chnges etc. That way you don't have to get agreement from all owners.
