Is there anyone from the Colombo families of Yorkshire in 19th century that knows of a connection with the Grigglestone family in Norwich? There is one,I think but can't find it.

Thanks for reply,DJH. Really know very little. Just that in 1832 (St Paul's, Norwich) William and Esther Grigglistine had William Colombo. (He died 1835) Thought it may have been a grandmother's maiden name and there seems a Yorkshire connection as relatives were born in Hull, lodging in Rotherham, etc,. Sorry to be so vague. I am just trying a new line of enquiry.
William was married to Esther Maria Minns , her parents were John and Elizabeth Minns Nee Hill. I think William and his brothers were sons of Elizabeth born 1781 in norwich, on the 1841 Elizabeth is recorded as Guigliston. She married John Griglistine I think at Norwich St Clemens 22 oct 1821 and her maiden name was catchpole, john;s first wife elizabeth atkins must have died after the birth of their first daughter maria in late 1820 early 1821, so william would be the son of john and elizabeth griglistine nee atkins.
just to clarify, the elizabeth griglistine still alive on the 1841 and 1851 would be the second wife of john and not the mother to william, she was his step-mother
re you sure the surname was colombo and not colombine?

Thank you DJH.It is not a surname but a second Christian name as used in the tree. It was suggested to me by someone from theAnglo-German History Society that it might be from the Yorkshire Colombo families -but maybe it is from Colombo, Ceylon, as they were at sea a lot! PS. Elizabeth Catchpole is my William's sil, married to John his brother.

William's mother was Elizabeth White before marrying John (Grigglestine) William's father. The fact eldest son was John and married twqoElizabeths just confuses the issue!
