Have just received one of the above, Going through tips for using it I have found the tip to run the battery down to zero once a month and do it on the same day every month. what I want/need to know is can this be done quickly? if the Kindle battery as got a large charge in it when one gets to the date for emptying the battery

Don't think there is a discharge facility....I love my kindle..don't you ?

Thanks for your answer murraymints but I shall have to use it a little bit more to answer you. the web sight you have given me gives the same that I have already have but thankyou Danny
The idea that you need to periodically fully discharge a Li-ion battery is one of those myths that is endlessly repeated without checking to see if it's actually true. As Li-ion batteries don't suffer from the "memory effect" of older battery technologies, it's just nonsense. What's more, as the charge-discharge cycle is what largely determines the life of a Li-ion battery, deliberately discharging it simply so that you can recharge it, is likely to shorten its life - and discharging it below a certain level will prevent you from ever recharging it with a standard charger.

you can avoid using internet to save battery when you are running out of power
