Hi

I am trying to locate information on my Gt Grandfathers death, for family tree etc. Only problem is I know next to nothing about him other than his name and estimated year of birth, and where he live around the time of my grandfathers birth.

I have put this bit of info into ancestry which returns lots of results. 2 possible then the 'less likely' results. how can i tell if any of these are matches? I wouldn't want to order certificates of death etc and end up paying for the wrong record.

thanks

that's occasionally what you have to do, though.

Are there any census records or elctoral rolls that show him living with family members you do know about? (eg your grandfather)

You can add relevent confirming detail to your certificate order which would then assist the registrar in verifying the right registration. This would perhaps include things like possible informnt, (wife/son/daughter), occupation is another, you could locate eacxh 'possible' you have already found on the census prior to their death and try to build their family group and place oif residence/occupation, to eliminate them from the registrars choices.
