If lots of young, white Brits went down to London for an anti-Middle East demonstration, chanting "death to the arab world" and dressing their kids up in "I love Crusaders" hats, all in the name of <insert lame excuse here>, do you think they would get arrested?

Yes, without a doubt. We are pandering too much too Muslims. It has to stop!!
Of course they would .!
Yes they would. This country is being too soft. It's trying to be Mr Nice Guy to everyone, and it's creating problems. Action should be taken against the type of demonstration you described, regardless of whether those involved are black, white, Christian, Muslim or whatever. For some reason (weakness?) the government is pandering to the nonsense of political correctness taken to the extreme, and it's a dangerous road to travel. You can't constantly go out of your way to not offend everyone without becoming powerless and weak.
Yes because all the Christian Voice group who protested against "Jerry Springer the Opera" and are happy to persecute all gay people were arrested immeadiately.......(or were they?)

As were the people who protested against same sex civil partnerships with slogans like "sodomy is sin" - all arrrested weren't they.

Then of course there were all the people who protested against the war in Iraq in 2003 (predominently white) - filled the cells in the whole of the South of England.

But of course - that is different. They are allowed to protest.

Of course - it maybe that under English Law, people are actually allowed to have a peaceful protest, (and as with any protest you will always get some extremes)
They may have said ''Sodomy is sin'' but did they say ''Kill the sodomites ?'' I would think that one is comment and the other incitement.
true enough, but there have been several 'white' protests including:

1) anti animal testing
2) anti abortion
3) anti hunting

etc

who in England and the US ahave encouraged their members to commit illegal acts. They have targetted doctors who carry out abortions, they have dug up the grave of a family member of a guinea pig farm etc.

I don't remember anyone who is anti animal testing saying "lets go on a protest saying "not in my name"" when this attrocity occured.
Oneeye You've changed youe argument ,mate . Those anti-abortion and anti-animal testing people were arrested when they broke the law. Those who want to ''Kill heretics'' should suffer the same fate.

if i went outside today threatening anyone who made a joke about my religion i would be arrested within 30 secs......why should it be different for anybody else

brionon - my point is that if they are breaking the law, then they will be arrested and either cautioned or charged.

If they are not breaking the law (and on the basis that they were not arrested then I assume that they were not) then all they were doing is protesting and putting up signs which (a lot of people) find offensive.

So maybe we can agreed that putting up signs that people find offensive is wrong? How about a cartoon? Don't you love the irony?
Oneeyedvic- In answer to your last post, putting signs up that are offensive is wrong, On the otherhand tho, putting up signs with the threat of killing is slighty more serious than being call by you as just offensive
Point taken and well made.

In fact, I have just been reading what some of the chanting was as well as some of the placards, so I would like to apologise and say that the people who were chanting and making threats should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law

No problem Oneeyedvic

Oneeyedvic - you know it makes sense ;-)
You saw the light before I had reason to rant. Anyone inciting any violence should be arrested regardless of what colour or religion they are, regardless of what they're protesting about and regardless, really, of anything!
It's as black and white as that (see what I did there?).
Oneye, Two people were arrested --Do you believe it ? They were two counter demonstrators. Our Police and Government have shown cowardice, they arrest the BNP idiots but not the Muslim idiots.
