I wonder if anyone can give me a clue as to what this might be please?

right hand hurts at wrist and middle of palm and between thumb and fingers

pins and needles constantly in hand and fingers - worse when hand is used

sometimes fingers go numb

really bad pain at times for no reason

can't fully make a fist because it hurts middle of the palm and wrist

cannot put hand down flat without excrutiating pain at wrist and palm

cannot straighten fingers fully on that hand

writing or typing - severe pain and pins and needles in whole of hand and fingers so impossible to continue

Cannot recall doing anything to bring this on which started 3 days ago, woke up with slight pins and needles in fingers, gradually got worse during the day and then found it very difficult to move hand without pain and worsening pins and needles. Same evening a tiny white lump appeared at base of wrist but since disappeared.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may be able to give.

Hi Welshy thanks, I've heard of it but not looked it up does it come on for no reason do you know or is there a trigger?
Two things immediately spring to mind.....

a) Dupytren's Contracture.
b) Carpal tunnel Syndrome

My money is firmly on b)

Go to see your GP

By the way....the medical description that you gave was superb.....thank you.

Hi sqad thank you, will look at both of those the, it's really painful and movement in it is fairly restricted, forgot to say I'm noticing it more in index finger which is almost numb all the time and pain at wrist when opening out the thumb.
Daisy, your symptons are exactly the same as my late wife had. She had a relatively minor op and was back to normal after a week or so.
it occurred when i was working, typing made it far worse, have a look at the link, my thoughts are its that.

Thanks Welshy and em, it looks like that then (ugh) from what I'm reading from the link. Looks like I'll have get used to typing with me left hand only for a bit...sigh.
I've had a D's contraction on the little finger of my left hand since I was about 6. No idea where it came from, never been treated, no pain. I often wondered if I should get something done about it.

You have answered your own question.

If it "ain't " broke....don't mend it.
