hi my friend has been restoring a lambretta scooter that he has had for years, unfortunately the original number plate for it has been lost, he hasn't got any documents either, I think if you contact dvla and they would be able to issue him with an age related plate which he doesn't want, would appreciate if someone could tell us how to obtain the original plate for the scooter using the vin number , many thanks

Is he the registered keeper?

If so, surely the DVLA can advise on what the reg is, and issue a new V5

thank you both hopkirk and graham-w will pass imfo on
Contact DVLA with the current registration number of the scooter, explain that the documentation has been lost. DVLA should still have a record of the original plate number for that scooter. I doubt the original owner (or retailer) is still around with records of the sale.
Sorry I've read your OP again, you haven't got a number plate on it..... In which case contact DVLA or follow Graham-w's advice.
