I asked a question regarding my PC not loading Windows 7, and took it into PC World, who looked at it, and che, but when I cked that the hard drive was working properly, which it apparently was. I took it home, it up, to find that it still would not load windows. I've had,
a lot on this week, so haven't done anything about it and just used my very old and very slow laptop, which worked fine this morning, but have just turned it , and am getting the message Windows would not start because the following f
file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
You can attempt to repROMair this file by starting Windows setup using the original Setup CD-ROM
Select r at the first screen

I can't do this as I do not have the original CD-ROM, and even if I did, the CD reader does not work on this laptop, which is one reason I bought a new laptop ages ago. I've been through the re-booting, tapping F8, and have tried in Safe mode, and last good configuration, but the same message comes up. Why has this happened to both PC and laptop, or could it just be coincidence? I've got a friend who's getting me a recovery disc to try on the main PC, so I don't know if that will work or not. Of course this all happens when I have just put mycar online

'..........just put my car online to sell...'
Yes, both zonking out is probably just a co-incidence.

Do you not have a recovery section on your hard drive? The proper key to press for recovery usually shows on the bottom of your screen when you start up.

It appears that the rest of my original post hasn't made onto this thread a.d.

Unfortunately I no longer possess the newer laptop.

A continuation of the previous thread is as follows:

1st attempt tonight Turned on and pressed F8
Menu came up and have selected Repair computer
This has taken me to System Recovery options
Keyboard input method is on United Kingdom
Then log in using Administrator
I've entered password, but error box comes up with
User name or the password is incorrect - the user name will only come up as Administrator, I think the password is correct but not 100% positive.
Then box comes up and asks if I'm sure I want to exit and restart my computer
I click yes.

Computer then restarts, and the menu reads boot in

Safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, safe mode with networking
