Does this have a detrimental affect to the teeth in chemical form? Just wondered how it worked and if all is good with it.

It works partly by physical means (extra coarse abrasive to scour stains away) and partly by chemical means (very weak peroxide bleach- so weak that it can't have much effect). The worst you can do is use it too often and very vigorously- you'll wear the enamel away quicker!

From what I have heard it just doesn't work at all!
I tried that Arm & Hammer bicarb toothpaste, it left my mouth tasting like the bottom of a budgies cage:-)
how do you know what the bottom of a budgies cage tastest like?

Lol grasscarp I thought that when I read it. The reason I asked is that OH bought me some as a standyby not knowing it was whitening. I only ever use fluoride free paste but I couldn't get any when I needed it. I am just wondering if the whitening one will do my teeth any harm.
No. It wont harm them. Give it a go.
At best the 'whitening' results are minimal imo.
Surely the bottom of a budgie's cage tastes like crap ? Stands to reason, it's full of grit.

OG...and shhhhh ..urely other stuff lol.
Have you tried Snopake ?
There's always the old joke about having a Cockatoo in there.
I use whitening toothpaste all the time, and while my teeth don't get any whiter it does stop the coffee and cigs staining them and I have never had a filling.
