Bought an item from an internet seller via cheque but no product has been received. I have an email from seller informing me the cheque has been received and that the product would be sent the following day. The cheque has been cashed but the item was never received. Company said they were tracing the parcel but I have heard no more. Keep on emailing but no response. I know the address but no phone number. It has been 3 months now since the order. Any advice as to what I should do or who can help?

Send them a recorded delivery letter stating that you have tried contacting them on several occasions and that you have not received any response. Give them 7 days to either send you the goods or the cash or you will commence legal proceedings. You may want to mention trading standards, but personally I wouldn't.

If that doesn't bring a response, post another question.

If they are a limited company then you can also get hold of the Directors' home addresses - you can cc the letter to them aswell.

You can also name and shame the company on here.

Assuming this isn't an ebay transaction and the seller normally does business over the net, the Distance Selling Regs 2000 say the seller has 30 days to supply the goods (unless another timescale was agreed), and if they don't supply it within this time, then they have to refund your money within a further 30 days. Sounds like you are well outside this timescale, so if you don't get it sorted after a letter, contact your local Consumer Direct or Trading Standards to see what they might be able to do.

They might also be able to get him if he hasn't put the required info on the website (which a lot of iffy companies don't).
