I read a snippet in a magazine that the BBC are planning to bring back Bergerac with a young Jim. It's not been cast yet. Any ideas on who would make a good Bergerac?
Apparently John Nettles is hoping for a cameo role. Perhaps he could be the new Charlie Hungerford.

Can't stand John Nettles.

Lets hope it's better than the young Morse

What next - "Miss Marple the Early Years" with Keira Knightley getting her bits out on the 4:50 from Paddington?

pshaw, grrrr etc
I was a big fan of the original Bergerac series - not so much because of John Nettles, but because I have close ties to Jersey.

Not sure myself that a rebooted "new Bergerac", featuring a younger version would actually work though. Not enough substance to warrant the interest really.Still, if filmed in Jersey I will probably enjoy that element of it, at least..

Baldric seems unimpressed with "Endevour" - ITVs attempt to reboot the Morse franchise - Myself, I quite enjoyed it. At least Morses character is sufficiently interesting that an exploration of his younger self warrants some interest...

In other news, it seems the BBC are to attempt to revive "Poldark" - but I for one will miss the delectable Angharad Rees as Demelza....

i think david tenant would play the part really well...he was excellent in the drama broadchurch..
Surely, Bergerac was only about 20 when the original series started! Nettles looked remarkably young. They dragged the series out far beyond its sell-by-date.
Sometime it's best to leave while still on a high!
One of the slats on my garden fence has come loose, that would replicate the acting of John Nettles to perfection.
Never watched Bergerac the first time round so doubt it would draw me in.

Endeavour worked because Morse was a deep and complex character with much to unearth, I think it is excellent for that reason.
what would they call it," Bergerac, before the pubs open"
I liked the Triumph Roadster.
