First thing that springs to mind is simply holding water at that time of the month. I used to do the same, breasts were painful, clothes tight, hands and feet swelled in the summer and then it settled and I would pee it out as I started to bleed. It might be worth popping to the doc as the other thing which can cause thirst is diabetes, but I don't think that has a hormonal aspect.

hi woof... ive looked at symptoms of diabetes and apart from thirst and blurry vision thats all i have so guessing its not that... i could go get tested next time im at docs to make sure though.... like you said about hormonal makes me think its not that as it not a constant thing.... its unbelievable how much im drinking though.. thanks x
Could be too much sugar in your diet. Do you like grapefruit juice? The pink one can be beneficial as a thirst quencher.
Boots the chemist and Lloyds Pharmacy also test for Diabetes.
Worth getting checked out for :-)

Another thought : be careful about drinking too much water it can cause hyponatremia http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/hyponatremia/DS00974
A bit more information please.......

1) Are your periods normal OR do you bleed heavily?
2) You say that you are thirsty and drink a lot, but do you also pass a lot of urine?

thanks madmen... i thought lloyds did it but wasnt sure... might just bob in and get tested tomorrow if i can

sqad... really really heavy.... always been like this and all women in my family are same :( ... i go to loo a hell of a lot from about a day or two before my period until about 3 - 5 days in... my usual period lasts at least 7 to 9 days :(
pdust.......thanks for your reply. That may well be you answer in that your blood loss is causing your thirst.
I would imagine that you have seen a Gynaecologist about it, but if you haven't then I would suggest that you do as a large fibroid in your uterus could be your problem.
