Why can't we, for one year only, not give any foreign aid to ANYONE, no exceptions?
It would help fill a massive hole in the huge financial deficit we find ourselves in now?

I believe that apart from the smaller organisations that actually physically help the unfortunate to help themselves with education, tools, farming methods, irrigation etc., most of the money collected by the more famous charities is siphoned of by legal deductions and criminal funds diversion in the destined countries.

I guess the government feels it needs to share global resources about more evenly even if it means they make things slightly more difficult for themselves. Not just altruistic either since it never hurts to have foreign countries feel they owe you. The major issue is whether the aid does what is intended of it by the giver.

It doesn't work that way its been found recipient countries think it's their right but also recent having to accept it. It makes them feel inferior .

Foreign aid is mostly spent employing one's own population to provide goods and services to needy places.

we give India etc aid , and call centre jobs ..while we are cutting back and belt tightening its a farce.
