I use BT Yahoo/Outlook Express for my email and have used it without problems for ages. Suddenly, about a week ago, it started not allowing me to open or download attachments from my emails. If I click on the attachment, it says it is checking it for safety and then that it is cleared for download, then everything stops. Can anyone recommend what I can try to clear this problem?

I forgot to say, could you imagine you are explaining to a sausage roll, as I am not all that computer savvy.....!
If you find out, explain to me because I'm having the exact same problem!!
Have you had an email from Yahoo asing if you want to upgrade to Explorere 10? I just have makes me think problem has been on their side - I've suddenly got 54 email too - I usually only get about 12 -15 a day

Don't think I have had that email from Yahoo... Had a few obviously scam emails purporting to come from them a couple of weeks ago but deleted these promptly. Maybe my next call should be to the BT helpline - just hope they can explain in terms I can understand... Watch this space.
Do you have virus protection beckers? I'm wondering if it is blocking your attachments.
Or if you have no protection maybe you have a virus.

Attn Iluvspikey Re: Unable to upload or download email attachmentsOptions
I have just come across the following through a Google search:

"I have spoken to the BT Technical Help about this issue and they advised it is a known issue with BT Infinity customers.

To resolve the issue, you need to restart both the Home Hub and the white Openreach modem."

Have had a really heavy day so intend to try this tomorrow morning - fingers crossed. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion, Maydup - I have McAfee security software. Will investigate this if the above doesn't work!
Thanks love, everythings seem to be okay I don't have infinity, I rebooted the modem. I too have McAfee

Glad things worked out for you, Iluvspikey! I have been so busy today with cooking, washing, gardening etc that I haven't had time to try this so fingers crossed for tomorrow.....!

It worked! I reset both the hub and the openreach box - then the broadband connection wouldn't come back so I switched the power off and on again - all lights in order and my attachments are available again. Hope it lasts! Feeling rather proud of myself for sorting it out without calling in the vet.
