Hope someone can help, My sister works as a domestic at our local hospital and has done for 16 years plus. Today she had an altercation with her supervisor and she left the hospital and went home halfway through her shift. Is that a sackable offence? She has had no warnings before this either written or verbal. I have told her to get the union involved and to get an appointment with her GP ASAP.

It could be. Is she prepared to apologise? If she has a good record I think it's likely she'd get just a formal warning if she accepts it was an error on her part

I hope so, she is very contrite now she's calmed down a bit. I've told her to write a letter of apology. She has rung in as she was rostered to work tomorrow but has been told not to attend during the phone conversation.
She certainly picked a bad weekend to throw her toys out the pram.
