Hi Guys, I opened my Outlook Express box this morning to collect a usual 10 or 12 emails only to receive all previously deleted mail back to December 2012 ( 798 of them) Any idea what my problem could have been and anything I need to do to prevent further problems please? Thanks....Tel

The default in OE (and most other clients) is to delete e-mails as soon as they've been collected. After that, it's in the hands of your e-mail supplier. Problems as described usually occur if an ISP makes a cockup of switching to a new server, or fixing a problem with their existing server.

When that happens it's usually a problem with you ISPs mailserver. I doubt it will happen again, and nowt you can do to prevent it.
Mine did that as well. Over 22000 emails!
You can assign a rule to your isp email inbox so as it deletes mail after 3 months or what ever amount of time you decide, always a good idea to leave mail on there for a few months i case you accidently delete an important email.

Rojash OE gives you the option to leave a copy of your email on the server...

"Rojash OE gives you the option to leave a copy of your email on the server.."

I'm well aware of that, thanks.

What I said was "The default in IE...". That means what happens unless you specifically change it.
I pointed out that OE gives you the option to change the default and leave your emails on the server for a limited time....
