I'm loving this little solar powered socket. Any gadgets or gizmo's taken your fancy recently?

It's without doubt a fantastic concept, hopefully in not too many years it'll become a reality (doubtful in the UK though, bloody weather).
An intuitive socket eh, That's a novelty.
Ah yes, neat design, some could find it useful. Unsure how long I'd be able to run my electric fire off it though ;-)
I don't think you could do anything useful with it, it is just too small. I have a solar panel 20x the size of the one pictured and that isn't powerful enough to charge a mobile phone. It might just power heated underwear for an ..ant.
I am more interested in this stuff: http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2009/jun/10/nokia-mobile-phone

"A new prototype charging system from the company is able to power itself on nothing more than ambient radiowaves – the weak TV, radio and mobile phone signals that permanently surround us. The power harvested is small but it is almost enough to power a mobile in standby mode indefinitely without ever needing to plug it into the mains, according to Markku Rouvala, one of the researchers who developed the device at the Nokia Research Centre in Cambridge, UK."

This solves Sqad's aesthetic problem, and might allow us to go properly wireless (in the distant future).

Oooh that looks like a cool concept- anything remotely Nikolai Tesler orientated is good by me, h4e's one of my personal heroes :)
Telsa is in fashion at the moment isn't he? I think there was a biography out recently which has grabbed everyone's imagination.
''This solves Sqad's aesthetic problem''

As the sun clearly shines out of his harris, perhaps Sqad could 'hide' the aesthetically offensive device down his trousers... kill two birds with one stone.

Yeah, I was taught from quite a young age that he was one of life's heros ( my Mum was at one point writing a screeplay about him- not sure what happened to that) and he's slightly mysterious and enigmatic so he'as always had quite a pull for me.
this is fun:-
Does that prevent the neighbours finding enough signal to get Freeview then Ed ?
