Blood Tests....

I've got to have a blood test this week. I was supposed to have it this morning, but I phoned up and changed the appointment as I didn't have anyone to go with me.
I have a major (MAJOR!) fear of needles, and just wondered if they *have* to take it from my arm?

I know that sounds like a stupid question, but is it possible to have blood tests by taking blood from a finger prick?

MadMen -yes you can go ahead with it. Tell the nurse your fears - turn away and take strong deep breaths visualising taking into your body white strong light letting the breath out very slowly while picturing the nerves flowing out down through your body and out through your feet .

Hi MM and Tony, glad your tests went well and are over now. Well done X
The vampire nurse took three attempts to get mine,
Didn't tell you that on wednesday in case I put you off. Lol. XX

Aghhhh! Well thanks for not mentioning that, much appreciated :-)
I've got my results tomorrow afternoon - though that doesn't bother me in the slightest.
Thanks for all the kind words... and not telling us about the "three attempts"!
Madmen - I got a blood test too on Thursday past - it has been 3 years since I last had one so was a little nervous but it was only a little sharp sting. The nurse was brilliant - some nurses are good at it and some are bad. What I can never comprehend - how yous all have had a family and endured painful labours yet a wee blood test frightens the life out of you. How come????
MadMen, what would you do if one of your kids needed a blood test, but was terrified?

Conne, yep, I get what you mean. I can sit here now and realise how ridiculous it is, but when it's happening, well, I just go to pieces.
It's not really the needle as such, and nothing to do with the tiny sharp scratch, for me it's more abut the blood. I just can't bear it.

Sara, luckily my husband has always taken the kids in if they've needed anything involving needles/bloods.
I do realise I need to 'man up' a bit though... :)
