stuck in a 12 month contract for an unusable service, what are my rights?

Hi

I naively signed up with Fasthosts for a VPS service, and am contracted to 12 months with them. I say naively because I failed to read reviews prior to purchasing.

Cutting a long story short, I have been with them for 2 weeks now and am unable to use the service they have sold me due to a 'plesk licensing issue' which they are really dragging their feet with. I've spent a lot of time calling them and had to stay with my current VPS provider for an extra month, as the service they sold me is unusable until they pull their fingers out and fix my issue.

What are my legal rights here? I am fed up of this and just want to cancel the service which they keep reminding me I can't do for another 50+ weeks.

Thanks in advance! Ste

If they are not providing the service you paid for they are in breach of contract. I would cancel the direct debit and let them chase you.

I considered that but judging by what I've read online, they just chase you with debt collectors instead, which I don't want...
