My working tax credit goes into my ex's bank account, but she won't give me her details so it goes into my new one. The tax office said they cannot change it over without her details. I phoned the police and they said can't do anything.

So she can have £50 a week forever???

How can I sort this??

Thanks

I am no expert but this sounds like fraud to me, if she's keeping your money - why didn't you sort this out as part of your split-up? Perhaps you need to get a solicitor to write a stiff letter to your ex, demanding the money back which she's keeping fraudently, and asking her to send him the bank details. That way she wouldn't have to give them direct to you (which perhaps she doesn't want to do).
I know nothing about tax credits but if they are due to you personally (not your ex or as a couple) then the tax office should just stop them and then pay into the right account. They must know already what account they are going to now. Ring them up again.

Thanks for the replies. Sucks, eh?

You need to make a new claim for tax credits if you are still claiming as a couple and she is now your EX.
