I would love to know how, for example, members of the Press manage to 'hack' into Facebook accounts of people they don't know, see their comments, see their photos, etc. without actually being their Friend? Surely if they become a 'friend of a friend' they can't see all the details they want of that particular person? And the 'friend of the friend' doesn't know them anyway so how do they get their information? I can't understand how they do it, I often wonder when photos and comments are published in the newspapers.

Maybe the person whose profile they are quoting has it set to public view instead of just friends.
Personally I think they contact a 'friend' and get them to spill the beans for a few quid.
It depends on what personal security settings the user chooses. Check out privacy settings at the top right hand corner on FB - who can see my stuff.
A lot of my friends have set their privacy settings to stop people seeing who their friends are.

thanks all !
FaceBook is NOT a secure site.
It was designed as an open access site with no security at all.
All the security has had to be added on as an extra, the result is that a competent 'Hacker' can get into ANY facebook information in less than 30 seconds.
I have been saying this for years on here , NEVER put anything on FB that you do not want the entire world to know, there is no way to keep it secure despite what FB says or what settings you use. I have never used FB and never will.
