Kitten Licking Faux-Suede

This is probably annoying rather than anything to worry about but thought I'd garner some opinions!

Our kitten is just about one year old. She has developed this habit of obsessively licking the faux-suede beanbag cubes when she lies on it. She usually starts off lying on it and cleaning herself and then moves on to licking the suede cover until it is sopping wet, usually trying to hide it as though she is licking herself but actually she is licking the fabric. She does it until it is really wet, which is irritating as we use them for footstools and is gradually leaving stains, and it also makes a really annoying noise when she does it!

Any ideas why she's doing it, if its doing her any harm, and how I can stop it?! I'm happy for her to lie on the beanbag so don't really want to use the Pet Behave spray!

Comfort. It's like sucking a dummy.

My cat suckled me until he was about two. Now he just paws things. Any woolly jumpers or fleeces...

It won't deter her from lying on the beanbag but it tastes horrible so should stop the licking.

Ooh Ratty thanks for that. I've seen the ones that keep them away from stuff but not ones that just stop them 'tasting'!

Ummmm - so it is a sign there's something wrong or is it just a baby habit?

Nothing wrong at all, my cats still lick my jumpers on occasion, and they're 13. it's comforting.

Nothing wrong. They only do stuff like that when they feel safe and secure.
