Until about 10 minutes ago i always thought that Monday was the 1st day of the week, however apparently it's Sunday (according to various websites). Sunday is part of the weekend not the weekbeginning and then there is all that talk of God resting on the 7th day ( i.e Sunday). Is it just me or did anyone else think it was Monday too?

I've never really thought about it before, but, now I come to think about it, when we teach the younger children the days of the week in Welsh, they sing them, and we always start with Sunday. X
Monday is the first day in my week and if we've worked on Sunday we're paid that in last week's money/timesheet.
Sorry I meant to add I thought the seventh day was Sunday and Monday was the first day of the week.
We were taught Sunday is first day of the week.
The Bible says the seventh day was the day of rest. The Jewish people have their day of rest on Saturday, their Sabbath. Therefore Sunday is the first day of the week. Tony is right.
We class it as Sunday at work for overtime claim purposes.
Does it really matter?
Mondays are usually crap. I consider Tuesday is quite soon enough to start the weel.
