Fire deaths trial 1350:

BREAKING: Sentencing of Mick and Mairead Philpott has been adjourned until 10:30 tomorrow, Mrs Justice Thirlwall tells Nottingham Crown Court.

I hope the judge doesn't go soft on the comments of them being good parents.

they get a bad press, some of it's warranted. You cannot plan for people like this, how he behaved, or that the women were stupid enough to put up with it. But i would say nothing but nothing would persuade me to harm a child.
The more I learn of this case, the more I think that the kids were let down by everybody. Philpott's criminal record has now been relased and it obvious that he that slattern of a wife were not fit to be parents. The kids should have been taken into care a long time ago. If they had, they would still be alive today. I heard Widdecombe bleating on yesterday that she could have seen this coming, but who is she to judge, as she was part of a media circus that treated the Philpotts like some exhibits in a zoo.

A truly dreadful story that upset me more than I thought possible. Those beautiful children.......
I know the issue of whether to take kids into care or not is difficult, and social workers have a terrible responsibility but it is plain that Philpott wasn't a fit person to be in charge of any children, let alone 11 of them.

He is a convicted violent offender, on record for a serious road rage incident, a known drug taker, a sexually controlling person, and a self-confessed pervert. We now know that he was accused of rape...well...surprise, surprise ! I have no sympathy whatsoever for his wife, who has shown no ability to behave in a proper manner at all. She is nothing less than a stupid slattern.

He has been in the media for years, not just the ghastly Kyle show. We may not have known the whole truth but the Social Services would have had complete access to his criminal record.

Ask yourselves, if you had known the full story of this man, would you have allowed your own kids into his house ?

As I said, if the authorities had acted, those kids would still be alive.

But I expect all the agencies involved will be wringing their hands in despair and saying "this must not happen again"

Well, until the next time of course.
no one to blame but them, all three.
