Because "Excuse me, but I am inclined to think that your behaviour is ill-suited to one who has progressed, in years, beyond adolescence" takes so long to say that you've already got a smack in the mouth before you've finished?

I'm puzzled by "Don't get me wrong but...." prefatory to any statement.

It just means I'm about to tell you the truth...

I always seem to say it to the same person so he clearly doesn't pay heed..
