We have a stone bay window which we have kept painted white. Unfortunately, it 'stains' quite quickly and soon looks in need of repainting.

Masonry paint seems to largely consist of White/Stone/Brick red whilst ideally we would want 'Green'.

What would be a good combination of paint/types to mix to achieve a weather-proof (we live very close to the sea) and attractive finish?

Thanks.

Googling 'green masonry paint' throws up some options, including B&Q and Homebase.

It does, snags.......but not the shades we would like.

We've trudged round the DIY stores around us, and they all seem to carry the same, small limited range. That's why we are considering 'brewing our own' to a shade we fancy, but wondered if some types of paints are worse/better in combination with others.
Dulux will mix masonry paint any colour you like if you find a mixing centre.
How about this:

There's a 'colour wheel' further down the page.
Dulux do green in their Weathershield range. You may have to ask in store for them to order it though as it may not be a off the shelf colour.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Unfortunately, the minimum 5litre size is far more than we would need, and the price for buying that much 'off the shelf' seems a bit steep as a result.

Would it be feasible to concoct our own?

If you buy 5 litres jack, put a few coats on, then store it properly - you will have some to redo it in 5 years or so!
Builders Merchants usually have a colour mixing machine. They can't stock all colours, so they mix them on demand from the Matchmaker range.
Unless it's changed, Dulux Weathershield Masonry was always available in 2.5l as well as 5l, Jack

Thanks, all......

Although, confirming whether I can make it myself would've helped.........:o)
Of course you can, Jack. You can buy pigments. Just add to basic white. I know I've seen pigments (or colourants) sold somewhere, but I can't remember where.
B & Q used to sell them, not sure if they still do.
Not sure if they are ouside masonry paint though.

Depending on how dark you want the green, you could buy a sample pot of dark green masonry paint and mix it with white masonry paint. Samples from here for example. We did this but we wanted a light colour and it worked a treat.
