Twice in the past month my four year old granddaughter has had a temperature of over a 100. No other symptoms apart from being shivery and sleepy. What could be the cause?

Commonest cause without a doubt would be viral infections in that age group.

Are viral infections contagious. My three other children seem to be unaffected both times. Does this mean she has a poor immunity?
Yes....most if not ALL upper respiratory viral infections are contagious, but all very common in everyday life.

No, getting two upper respiratory viral infections in one month doesn't necessarily indicate poor immunity......in fact during the winter months recurrent infections are the rule rather than the exception....especially in children.
