Is this a step too far when an individual or group could monitor another and be used as evidence of wrongdoing? Or are we likely to see the spread of such technology for civilians to spy on unsuspecting and maybe even legal events?

Well they won't be spying...the drone planes will certainly be visible and audible....and why not?
surely MILITARY drones would be much better
- and available as we withdraw from a liberated Afghanistan -

blowing those pinkies to smithereeens - and possibly a few joy riders as well who NO ONE regards as human - so identifying AND punishing the illegals in one step without intervention of the courts

solves the probem AND saves money !

It could herald a whole new field sport - Drone shooting.
@PP - Such a simple and elegant solution :) And Gromits take on a whole new field sport is a good one too.....
Once a technology is out of the box, it's very hard to put back in, especially when it's commercially appealing to certain groups / organisations
