yep, and if there will be trouble, ill tell them it was not me but the hubby :) thanks again, good night.
Just play dim and look all flustered.
Why not make a SORN - it's free. See DVLA website.

https://www.gov.uk/register-sorn-statutory-off-road-notification
It's hardly worth it though, if MK makes a SORN they would have to un-SORN it in a few days to tax it. Think they should live dangerously and risk it (its not like the car is being driven anywhere). (Obviously not actually advocating doing anything illegal though.)
Taxing it automatically un-SORNs it. But yes, on balance I think I would just let it ride until Friday.
just leave it on the drive till Friday, forget all the sorn comments above, technically correct but really not worth the agro. The car will be taxed before any issues arise.
As you have been driving a car with no tax the dvla will know and you could be in for a fine in the post anyday.

It is best to lose a month and tax it soonest.

just saw the last comment and want to say that we didnt drive the car and even if we wanted to get the road tax i didnt have the insurance certificate, was told it would take 10 days to arrive. anyway, received it just on time and on 1st march i got the roadtax with no problem.

oh well, i will find out on 1st of march when i go to the post office then. also, i dont know for how long the car was without tax, if it just only expired or was not taxed for a while. but i have sent to dvla the logbook with the date when i bought it and the sellers signature.

methyl, what can i say. the same day husband bought the car i posted change of details to dvla by first class recorded post and insured the car immediately cos i guessed it would take few days for my insurance certificate to arrive.
dont know if car had tax but owner chose to take it and get refund on it, husband said he never asked the guy, i had no choice but to wait for certificate to arrive and i didnt believe my husband when he said we would save a month in road tax if we taxed on 1st march. but thankfully we did.
