Hi all, haven't been on here in a while so hi!

I had a copper coil fitted (IUD) just before Christmas, I've had one period last month finishing on the 2nd February. But haven't come on again, thus making me 10 days late this month.

I've heard lots of stories about people getting pregnant while on the coil so decided to take a home pregnancy test Monday, it was negative. My question is can the coil give a negative result? I've been feeling extremely tired lately and have had sore breasts. Had some cramping the week I was due but nothing came of it. Any advice would be welcomed. Thanks xxx

I think that it is extremely unlikely that a coil could influence a pregnancy test....extremely unlikely.

Repeat the test in one week...if it is still negative, then you are not pregnant.

Thanks sqad :) x
i'm not sureabout the type of coil you have, but i had a coil a few years ago which stopped my periods for the whole time i had it - happy days! the other changes your feeling may just be your body adjusting to either reduced hormones (if you've come off the pill for example) or increased hormones (if hormones within the coil).

That would make sense, I had the implant out at the beginning of January. The coil I have is a non hormonal one as hormones don't seem to agree with me. I thought without having any hormones my cycle would return to some normality, but have missed this months one xxx
