A bit like shutting the stable door when the horse has bolted (pun intended)
Very little horse meat is processed in Britain because as a nation we prefer not to eat it.
and the prices will go up. British farmers want higher prices,...blah, blah.
whilst people are not buying burgers, or so the headlines say, what about the rest of the foodstuffs, who knows half the time what we are eating...
Buy from the local butcher. No problem.
trying to get peoples confidence again will be like flogging a dead horse
i am not sure we have any local butchers, one local outlet that sells some meats, but i wouldn't touch it with the proverbial barge pole.
Yes on the TV they were showing hospitals in Wales buying lamb from New Zealand. How can they transport meat from the otherside of the world when Wales has so many sheep wandering about. Maybe Tescos can buy some of it.
About bloomin' time!!!!
Moving from beef to milk . . . Can Tesco really be trusted again?

In today's paper Tesco Chief Exec says ''We already have an arrangement with dairy farmers which gives them much more certainty about the price they will receive for milk.

Really! Also in the same newspaper is a reminder that Tesco were fined £10million for dairy price-fixing, more than a decade ago.

Yeah, we trust you - every little helps Mr Clarke.
Dave - I fully expect farmers will want more money since what they are paid now is absolutely risible. The supermarkets have huge power and it is THEY who set the prices. Farmers often make very little more than it has cost to buy and raise the animal.

This is why there are so many farmers selling up and getting out or diversifying into different areas.

I sincerely hope the farmers will stand together and say to Mr Tescos "OK, so now you want to buy OUR meat, you can jolly pay a sensible price for it and cut your profit margins".
not for nothing has Tesco been voted worst supermarket in Britain, it's high time they took a fall, and indeed high time people stopped going to them.
