is it not also true --that while millions suffer from lack of food ,
there is more than enough in other lands,

Almost forgot, meteors and comets. That would be the various gods fighting it out for religious turf with rocks and snowballs.

D'oh! . . . there went my atheism. :o/
Goodlife, //who do you blame?//

Nature - but that's not a 'who'. So are you going to answer my question? Who do you blame for the earthquakes and tsunamis that occurred in ancient times?

Mibs, you got it in one ... or maybe two. Kerrunch! ;o)
True there have always been earthquakes and tsunamis.
Jesus Christ himself said that there would be an increase in these things in the last days. You cannot deny that the evidence points to this.
However, it still boils down to man’s mismanagement of the earth and its resources, especially so in modern times.

You say you do not blame God because you do not believe in him. You cannot blame nature, so who is responsible? I know. If you wanted to you could find out as well. You need to begin at Genesis 3.

The evidence is there for all to find if they really want to seek it. But you would much prefer to listen to so called philosophers, who really only get their information from other scientists and philosophers.

Scientists acknowledge that there is a grand designer (or creator), nothing can come from nothing no matter how much to try to “gift” wrap it.
Goodlife: //it still boils down to man’s mismanagement of the earth and its resources//

By this you are saying that the power of Man is greater than the power of God, that God is powerless to intervene even if he wanted to.

Because if he could intervene - but just doesn't want to - then it boils down to God not intervening - nothing to do with man.
//Because if he could intervene - but just doesn't want to - then it boils down to God not intervening - nothing to do with man.//

So you do believe in God then, make your mind up, you are a funny lot.
^^ "you are a funny lot"

Hahahaha.
@Goodlife
You said this in your last post

"It means that humans were never meant to rule themselves, history proves that, but when things go wrong you quickly blame God. "

You keep saying that man was never meant to rule themselves. The very idea that you say this is really quite an insult to humanity. There is no one else to rule us, goodlife, despite what you might think. There is no evidence, nothing to suggest that a god with a day to day interest in humanity exists. The notion is derived from superstition, and maintained and powered by faith. Thats, all ,that is it.

In the same post, you then went on to say this
"When you consider what man is doing to the earth, is that surprising? Earthquakes and tsunami are the result of man’s mismanagement of the earth. Nothing to do with God."

What is it that you think man is doing that is causing earthquakes and tsunamis?
The Earth is 4.5 billion years old, goodlife. This is not a belief, not a figure based on faith, not a calculation based upon the number of begats in a book. This is evidential fact. And mankind has been around for only around 40,000 years or so. There is evidence of earthquakes and volcanoes in the geographic record that pre-date mankinds existence.

Can you offer evidence to suggest that the frequency of volcanoes, or tsunamis, or earthquakes is increasing? ( Hint: No, you can't)
It is, frankly, absurd to suggest that mankind is creating such natural disasters. It does not stack, and the evidence does not support it.In fact, we have a pretty good idea of what causes all of these natural phenomena, and can monitor, and to some extent predict when such events are due to occur. Thats because of science, goodlife - the investigation of the natural world and the forces that shape it.

On your last sentence, " it is nothing to do with god" we can both agree. The difference between you and I on this issue is that I apply that same logic to everything, because there is no god. You, on the other hand, allow your faith to dictate your perception of reality.

The phrase " There are none so blind as those who will not see". I think you have used it before, in your description of atheists.

The full saying is actually "‘There are none so blind as those who will not see. The most deluded people are those who choose to ignore what they already know’."
I would submit that the phrase better suits the religious fundamentalist, that rejects the objective evidence around them in favour of doctrine and dogma.

Goodlife, actually I was asking -you- to clarify something that -you- said about -your- beliefs. Please reread and post a sensible answer.
Goodlife - “... Earthquakes and tsunami are the result of man’s mismanagement of the earth. Nothing to do with God...”

I feel rather glad that it was I who elicited that particular response from you. It kind of makes all this debate worthwhile. I do enjoy it when a bona fide God fearing chap such as yourself makes such a public show of themselves.

So you think that earthquakes and tsumamis are man's fault do you? As I said in my earlier post, how very convenient for your world view. I take it you've never heard of Plate tectonics then? Please take a look at this link. Please read it, digest it and then come back here and try to explain again how you feel that mankind is responsible for earthquakes and tsunamis:

//Does The Existence Of War And Of Suffering And Food Shortages Prove That There Is No God/

I dont see how it proves that their is no god. Of course, if you expect god to be like a superhero intervening with everything than yes, however that is not how god works. He gives us choices and we decide what we do with it. If we go killing others that is our fault.

Also you'll find that in harsh times, many people turn to god asking for his
mercy and forgiveness.

as for food shortages, you only have to look to America to see that their is enough food...its just being waster and distributed unequally.

Yes
I am doing both I wish to get reaction
and thought's---- from your reactions-- from your writing

I am trying to think in away a atheism --may think
in a way you think that there is no god----- and why

I have been watching many of you tube videos about
Mr. Dawkins and his discussions and theory - to hold up - atheism and it has made --me-- more and more convincing , (Bible)
I think the Bible puts it down in writing-- in simple way
because we are all Internet or scientist or teachers or biologist
we are just simple people
and if you do not ask questions and put and answer with the question
you may not gets any reactions
//in harsh times, many people turn to god asking for his mercy and forgiveness.//

God must love a bit of war, suffering and food shortage then, he just gets ignored when the going is good.
Read "Challenging the Bible" by R.G.Ingersoll and then get back to me.
to suggest that people are starving to death because people 1000s of miles away have plenty of food is riculous when you know that the basic cause of their lack of food is the dry barren soil that 'god' has chosen to give them to live on!

why doesnt he give them rich soil that they can grow their own food in?
why make it so they have to travel miles for water?
why didnt he put more rivers and lakes there for them?
why did he fill what rivers they do have with deadly diseases and germs?
man did not invent germs and diseases ...
WHY DID GOD DO THAT?

humans did not do that to the landscape - YOUR GOD DID!

people in those countries dont want rich countries to have to 'bail them out' all the time by feeding them etc - they want to be feed themselves.

people have survived millenia by living off the land - and so could they - if the land wasnt utterly useless dirt - put there by god
^^She's got a point - in fact several. Any answers?
joko. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for a sensible answer, you're asking people who believe man causes earthquakes and tsunamis. You will probably be told that causing such disasters we released germs and diseases that God had kept safely hidden away from us.
I know the answer: God works in mysterious ways.

Im sure Goodlife will be able to tell us as he appears to have inside information an is able to read and understand parts of the bible that atheists cant understand.

What would the world do without people like goodlife?
//humans did not do that to the landscape - YOUR GOD DID!//

Hello, you don’t blame God?
/
/What would the world do without a goodlife//

Well how does a good-living man become a criminal? It is by means of thieving that a man makes himself a thief. Likewise, ungodly humans, whether human or spirit, can misuse his free will and degenerate into a rebel against God.

While you still have your life at stake take the advice of Proverbs 3:1, 2: “My son, my law do not forget, and my commandments may your heart observe, because length of days and years of life and peace will be added to you.

So if one wants to ‘lengthen his days and have years of life and peace added to him,’ then it is better for him to listen and do what God says. Jehovah is the Giver of life, and he knows how to extend your life. If you put your trust in him, Now that the Goodlife.
More trite homilies from goodlife, again urging a belief in a deity for whom their is no evidence. Just voices in the head and an ancient book of myth and legend.

It further illustrates the thinking of such believers that those who do not believe are described as "degenerating into rebels".

And you still have not answered Jokos point - because of course you cannot. You claim god created the world; so why not create a world with a greater landmass to ocean ratio? Why not create a world that had more fertile soils, spread more evenly across the globe?

No sensible answer from goodlife, just cut and paste preaching; Devoid of any value. That is, if we do not get intellectual dishonesty through misrepresentation, unattributed quotation depriving the actual author of any credit, or cowardice in refusing to respond to the allegations..
