It depends on, exactly, what you're looking for. If it's night life and lots of people then Oahu or the Big Island are for you. But for beaches (ask about Honopu Beach), scenery and laid back attitudes Kauai is the most overlooked island in my opinion. Check here for some more information:

And, Ho`omaika`i!

I dont want to put you off,but hawaii is the most popular place for honeymooners in the world. When my daughter and her husband went there for their honeymoon they were treated just like normal guests as there were 26 other honeymooners in the hotel, they were really upset that they were not given even a bottle of champers on arrival.

But they did enjoy the island,it was lovely. And they had a great time.

If it's romance you are after, avoid Honolulu (Oahu) like the plague. The big island of Hawaii is just about solid basalt and not too many beaches you could put a towel on. Go for the smaller islands, Maui, Kaui for example, plenty of beautiful beaches with acres of space. I have always found the American people to be very helpful and friendly and for some strange reason have a soft spot for the Brits!! Can't think why.
