I would like something that is heat proof and non slip.
It would be approx 2ft L x 1ft D, but only thin, bit thicker than paper though.
Could be plain but not white or have a nice pattern on it.
Any ideas?

A secretary always looks nice on a desk I think....
Question Author
Is that after or before she sits on your knee shoota?
I have used a chopping board in the past, one of those thin glass ones with non-stick rubber feet.
You could look at those pet feeding mats, they're about that thickness and plastic.
Both!
A sheet of mount card from an art shop or picture framers would do the job, cheap, easily replaced and useful for doodles! About 1/8 - 3/16 of an inch thick.
Question Author
Think table protector would be too thick daffy and would have a lot of waste on even the smallest.
Like the idea of the chopping board boxy but didn't want glass really.
I'm not sure. I've got one of those in the kitchen that I've had for donkey's, it's got the Homepride flour graders on it, will try it.
Question Author
Shoota that sounds ok. Will have a look in Hobby and Craft next time I'm near there.
Prudie I've no idea what a pet feeding mat is like as I don't have a pet, but will look at Pets at Home website.
You can get some really nice pet feeding or similar mats. Places like Wilkos do them.

I think they had some in Savers on Piccadilly Gardens the other day.

If I spot something nice in my wanderings round town I'll let you know.

Question Author
Prudie that looks like it might do the job. We have a Pets at Home nearby so I will browse in there next week.

Thanks Jenna. I'm going to Wilkinsons on Monday so will have a look in there.
Actually stationers too. I have something similar on my work desk under my keyboard, it's black but has a clear plastic cover over the top which you can slide things under - I have all kinds of work info on mine, saves a lot of space on having postits and such up and much more convenient.

We order them in so not sure where from but major stationers should do them, posh ones probably will too, nicer ones, more leather like (quite a lawyer things etc... for older desks) but at a price and they tend to retain marks from cups if not careful so coasters needed.
Question Author
Leather sounds nice Jenna but as you say not very practical.
Still you have all given me some thoughts and ideas so now I know what I'm looking for.
Many thanks
