Every time i go shopping a lot of items seem to have gone up quite high.
It's not just pennies either like it used to be..it's like.. 30p and 50p at a time,
it's getting ridiculous.

It's not just wheat, but all grains...and whatever they may be used in/a part of... So not just cereals or bread, but also thickeners, and flours. So prepeared sauces, biscuits, pet food, will go up. Also-the animals that are fed on grain.....chicken,beef,etc. It's far reaching and not as simple as it looks.

I know, everything has gone up so much. Ive started using a Lidl near me for the basics - so much cheaper!
Question Author
Yes i pop in Lidl sometimes Smowball or Aldi.
It's been going on for a long time... my favourite cereal has risen by over £1 over the last 6 months. Some choc chip chewy bars I used to buy have suddenly gone from £1.59 to £2.00!! I can get them for a pound in Poundland! The cheese in sainsburys suddenly went up about 40p too!
on the other side of it banana's are lovely and cheap at the moment, lots of cheap veg as well at the moment
Question Author
Yes cereal has gone very dear to,some of them are nearly £4.
Poundland have some good things in to,just shows you what profits these companies make when you can get it for less than half the price in other places.
Sainsburys has become so expensive. They`re damn crafty as well. I was about to buy a pack of 9 loo rolls there. Next to it was a 12 pack with a big red banner that said "Bigger pack, better value" but when I looked the the price per sheet in the small print on the label, they were more expensive than the 9 pack.
Question Author
Yes i think they are all crafty..We should just be able to buy a product without looking at the weight and comparing it to other products weights.

They make it look easy on the eye dont they.
They did warn us that last summers rain would cause increases.....don't eat wheat-save some money ;-)

@Smowball-try the meat at Lidl's-it's very good.
If I ever see a good offer now I buy several ie my local Co-op was doing packs of 9 toilet rolls for £2.50!
Thank goodness for mysupermarket. I never pay full price for things like Arial Excel gel.
As pasta says - we were warned that anything wheat based would rise at an alarming rate.
Question Author
Yes but it's other stuff that isn't wheat based thats gone up too!

Aaahh, i see what you mean Pastafreak.
That explains it then.
Potatoes and other root vegetables will also go up in price and quality fall.
You've only got to look at the summer and autumn we've had to realise why. Other, important, grain producing countries have been badly affected by the weather also.
