Yes, it took me about a week to settle down - what painkillers is she taking?
Question Author
Hi Boxy...she's taking Ibuprofen and Paracetamol.
It could be dry socket Bright Spark, that is horrendously painful.Get some extra strong painkillers and if she is able to combine use paracetamol with ibuprofen until she can get back to the dentist. I feel it should have settled down by now.
I hope she feels better soon, BS.

My Big Sis had the same and that was over a week ago but nearly back to normal.

I told her to go back and get some wisdom teeth put in..that went down well.
Both of you have had a smack in the mouth this week then? :)
If she smokes, tell her not to for a few days. Also agree about strong painkillers, dihydrocodeine 30/60mg is good if she can get hold of any, but some people feel nauseous and it makes you sh1t bricks.
Rub Sensodyne on the gum

Thanks for all your answers folks...I think flump has hit the nail on the head with Dry Socket. She has all the symptoms.
She has my sympathy if it is dry socket - I found the best relief from Paramol tablets from pharmacy but ended up with a bad infection, and a visit to A & E in the middle of the night to get it stitched up because it had swollen and started to bleed - what an experience!
If she has a dry socket, she needs antibiotics. It's very painful, she has my sympathy.
That pain is worse than a tooth ache. really hope you can get some antibiotics from the dentist...sooner than later. xx
I had a tooth extracted 2 weeks ago and was still in pain 4 days later. I went back to the dentist and they sad it didn't look infected but they gave me antibiotics anyway. I took those but it was still quite painful. Yesterday was the first day since I haven't needed painkillers. Mine didn't bleed much at the time is this what they mean by a 'dry socket'? Maybe that was my problem. I would keep rinsing her mouth out and taking the painkillers and hopefully it will be better soon. I wish her well, there's nothing worse than toothache!
