About a month ago, a guy was arrested for swindling the stock market in USA, but he claimed (in a 4 hour confession) that he was from the future and had travelled back in time to make some money as he knew how the stocks were going to go. Although no one believed him, they didn't have any trace of his name in ANY records before December 2002. I haven't heard anymore about this story (at one point it was on MSN homepage) and it was probably proved false otherwise the press would have jumped on it - but was wondering if anyone had heard anything?

It's pretty much been confirmed as false. The story originally came from the Weekly World News, a publication usually given to announcing stories about aliens walking among us and human-bat hybrid freaks. The other sites reporting the story seem to pretty much copy the report verbatim from the WWN. The urban legends site Snopes claims it is a false legend

The WWN, interestingly enough, follows up their original story http://www.weeklyworldnews.com/news/index.cfm?instanceid=576 59

If it were true, he would have known that he was going to be arrested and would have taken steps to avoid it. :-)
