Digital Tv Aerial

I have purchased a Tri Fold 43 element roof aerial.I am trying to install it,but cannot get a signal,either at the TV or at the aerial (using a signal strength meter).I checked for continuity using my meter,all was OK.I then checked between the screen and core,this also bleeped,indicating an elecrical connection between screen and core.This was present at the connector attached to the aerial.I checked the connection and the PCB to which it was mounted,and the PCB was designed that way.I do not understand.

Are you saying that the aerial includes an amplifier?
If so, the input impedance of the amp will be around 75 Ohms, so simply checking with a continuity bleeper will probably give a beep.

it has not got a built in amplifier
