A stick of light coloured toffee twisted around a chocolate core. I think it was about 8 inches long and possibly made by Trebor. What was it called ? and a don't suppose they still make it, do they?

Only thing I can think of is a Curly Wurly. What good value for money that was

I wish I could remeber what they were called it's driving me potty now!

I remember "Everlasting Strips" though! They were flat, light coloured toffee strips about 8" long & 1" wide! As they got softer, you used to stretch them out to as long as you could - yummy!

Highland Toffee????
Dirty Habit I'm not sure either but this is a good website to reminisce (and spend) http://www.aquarterof.co.uk/index.php
I think they were called chocstix, like a stick of barley sugar but caramel outside with chocolate up the middle.

I think granny g is right. I could see them when I read your post, but couldn't put a name to them. Then I read granny g reply and I thought "yes that it"!
wow what nostalgia!!!! I can taste it now!! and I think grannyg is right
Reading the answer - everlasting strips - bought back memories - we called them everlasting toffees and if you were careful you could make them last right through saturday morning pictures
Oooh I used to go to Saturday morning pictures. 6d I think it was. We used to have the Ovaltine Advert. We are the ovaltinies happy girls and boys. Anyone remeber?
I've often told other people about these sweets. They were really yummie, but like all good things, they took them off the market. Can't remember what they were called.

  • they were called chocsticks and they were my favourite
They were called chocstix and they were wrapped in orange cellophane (like lucozade glass bottles used to be!) Yummy!!! They were made by Trebor. A neighbour of ours used to work there and she used to bring us bags of sweets home at the weekend. Cherry drops, fruit salad, blackjacks and lollipops.

Kathyan,
That's it. It all comes back to me now.
They were made by Trebor and called CHOCSTIX. They were wrapped on orange coloured celophane. Shaped like a barley sugar twist. They may have disappeared when the firm was taken over by Cadbury's in the 1980s. Maybe they could have disappeared earlier, because I don't remember them after the 1970s. The toffee outer tasted very much like the present Werther's Original sweets.
They were Chocstix. They reminded me of a long chocolate eclair
If you sucked them for a while they came to a point at the end. They used to scratch your mouth 8-)
