Do you feel sorry for them for being so blind and gullible?

Or do you just think theyre idiots that should have known better and deserve all the heartache they get?

i heard stories during the harold camping debacle that said people had sold all their stuff, left their jobs, abandoned their homes etc - and generally just gone on 'end of world' frivolous gallavants - and are now homeless, lost and miserable... some have spent months - even years - 'practising' survival in bunkers etc - and I assume similar things have happened on this one - possibly on a larger scale too, as this one seems to have been a more widespread thing.

i, of course, pity anyone who finds themselves in tough situation and is suffering - but at the same time i think, they brought it on themselves - how could they be so stupid?
you would hope they would learn from it, but many just carry on and wait for the next date...

sadly, it is usually the head of the household who is usually responsible and, in their mania, they bring down their kids and maybe elderly parents etc too.

the whole thing is very sad and baffling, but unfortunately it will happen again and again.

what are your thoughts?

Help Humbersloop survive the non-endoftheworld by sending him recipes for tinned peaches.
1 You CAN make peach wine as the sugar syrup ferments nicely :-)
R&S used to have a cult. The Loonies - not to be confused with the Moonies. We stockpiled wine though - not tinned peaches. ;o)
jom, sounding good to a me :)

Joko makes a point about cults though

//sadly, it is usually the head of the household who is usually responsible and, in their mania, they bring down their kids and maybe elderly parents etc too//
Like it or not, daily see things we would prefer not to see.

That violence is everywhere today. In the home, at work, in school, and in entertainment, we face a violent culture. Being exposed to it daily, many have come to accept it as normal—until they are victimized. Then they ask, Will it ever end? Would you too like to know the answer,? And you say NO
That sounds like a rhetorical question to me, goodlife. We have to live with things we have no control over. These things - as they say - are sent to try us.
Not all preppers thought the world was going to end yesterday.
January 1st 2017 is the day of the apocalypse according to some nutjob cult called 'Sword of God'.
“I’m prepping for a collapse of our financial system that will mean the end of the world as we know it.”

“I’m prepping to protect my family against global chaos caused by hyperinflation.”

"I’m preparing for a crumbling of our society due to overpopulation."

"I’m preparing to survive a catastrophic nuclear accident."

"I'm prepping for civil unrest due to the economy downfall resulting in the government taking over my city!"

mick, there are far better excuses for putting things off, really there are
he Parable of The Alert Servant Made Simple
Mark 13-33-37

Mark 13:33-37 reads:

“Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is. It’s like a man going out to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming—in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning— lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to you all: Watch!”

This is a parable of Jesus Christ from the gospel of St Mark. I think this is the best answer a prepper can give. Im not a prepper or anti prepper for that matter. Im not a preacher either. What i'm saying is that we should always be prepare, always on the look out for what ever reasons, calamities, mayan predictions, end of days etc. that may struck us now or in the future. But please if you are preparing please do not be so extreme like buying guns stocking up foods etc. if the day comes to an end it ends.
Pardon?
Watch are you saying joko.!!??

The preppers have good reason to do what they do.
At the moment I am preparing for next year with AB and hoping that the site has less problems than it has had during the past 12months. I shall certainly endeavour to avoid mentioning Annoying Adverts; AdBlock; Badges; etc, which have now appeared to become items for which Suspension is automatic.:-)
