DVD Player - Resume or Bookmark?

I'd like to buy a DVD player and I understand that some come with a Resume or Bookmark feature. This seems a good idea as you can continue watching where you left off. Can anyone offer any advice on this - is it better to have Resume or Bookmark and can you recommend any particular players?

Thanks.

I think 'resume' is a fairly standard feature: you press STOP once and when started again the DVD will play from where it was stopped - press STOP twice and it cancels all memory. Given that all DVDs are 'chaptered' anyway, I would have thought any more advanced 'bookmarking' system would be a little redundant.

I've had a mid-range Sony model for a few years and have no complaints about it.
had 3 dvd players and they all had that stop function that allows u to carry on from the point u left it PROVIDED that you dont remove the dvd and play another one in the meantime.

Thanks both. I've since found out a bit more and it seems that you can get players with multiple resume. This means it will remember where you left off for several DVDs (so it doesn't matter if you take out the DVD). This is useful for me because it means my kids and I can all have part watched DVDs without needing a lot of searching when we put a DVD back in.

i had a philips one which remembered the disc id. when you loaded it, if you pressed play while the word loading was displayed it continued from where it was last playing. it could remember (i think) 3 discs.

it did go faulty. i took it back to asda, the gave me what appeared to be another the same but also refunded 30. i was not the same because it didn't have this and a few other features. but i learned to live with it.

so, check the philips specifications. it was a useful feature
