If you are buying a new build from a large building company is it possible to negotiate on the price or is the asking price what you are expected to pay?
Thank you

Everything is negotiable.
I suppose it all depends on demand for the plots. If there isn't much demand you are in a strong position for negotiating a reduction.
I'd agree. If you have the nerve to insist on a lower price then go for it. But if the plots are selling well there may be no incentive to drop the asking price. No harm in trying though, just be prepared to walk away or else your negotiation position is 'built on sand'.

Thank you for the replies. I suspect that this development will be popular and there will not be much room to negotiate. Sometimes it helps to have others point out the obvious when you have not seen it.
Much is going to depend on whether you have a property to sell first. Developers are well-used to people who would love to move but haven't sold their own home. If you are free of it, you are in a strong negotiating position but expect them to be firm on setting a relatively short date by which you agree to exchange contracts, else no special deal.
I know someone who offered £10k less than the asking price on a new build £200k property – which was immediately accepted.

Afterwards he said that he’d wished he’d offered £20k less.

Thank you. It will be as a means to invest inheritance with a small mortgage so, in effect, we will be like FTB
If it is one of the big four then they are all open to negotiation.

If they are absolutly not able to budge on price (they generaly are thought) then get fixtures and fittings and carpets etc included. In theory you could get £10k worth of fixtures and legal fees thrown in :)

My oh works for one of the big four and his staff discount is less than the public can negotiate in ten minutes....
