Dishwasher

does anyone have one, if so are they useful, do the job.
Toying with the idea of buying one, but don't have a lot of space, so it can't be full sized. Any recommendations, ideas would be welcome.

I wouldn't be without mine. Mine's a Bosch. I simply hate washing up by hand. Besides that, until I had a dishwasher I thought my dishes were clean. Hand washing cannot get dishes anywhere near as clean and hygienic as a dishwasher.

Ummmm, they do have a wee liquid bit as well as the solid stuff, so that's probably built in rinse aid now I think about it!

I'm so dense sometimes.

A repairman told me to 'always' use salt in the dishwasher regardless what tablets you use. So I do, as well as rinse aid.

Had my bosch for about 8 years now. Couldn't live without it.

I keep the reservoir filled because thats what it says to do in the instructions but the salt level almost never goes down, I refil it about once a year and even then its not empty

Is it just normal table salt you should use?

Now getting worried that I'm not using it!

Table salt is too fine and works out more expensive, too.

I buy Finish dishwasher salt. Like woof says, lasts for ages, it's cheap, so if he said to use it, I use it.

Might invest in some the next time I'm shopping.

Seems daft that I clean it properly and look after it but don't bother with salt. I've always been a bit obsessed with looking after things I've had to spend money on!

Wouldnt be without my dishwasher - had a Bosch for a few years now and its great. Whilst I always us Fairy tablets I usually buy supermarket own rinse aid and salt and never had any problem with them and it saves a few pennies. Do put tumblers in there but not wine glasses because of the stems and other half doesnt like his posh carving set to go in either but everything else does. Got some wooden place mats that come up a treat on a quick wash. Mostly use the quick wash except on sundays when we find the roasting tin etc need a longer wash.

Mines an Indesit, and even though there are only the two of us, I wouldn't be without it. I use it every single day as I do a lot of cooking. I use the quick cycle, which only takes about 20 mins and I love it!!

LDC, I have a Beko slimline too, I raised the top basket to the highest position and it fits my dinner plates in. In the lower position the plates were too big.

I use half a tablet (any that are on offer) and find the dishes come out just as clean as when using a full tablet.

I usually use the half hour quick wash, but occasionally use a long wash and stop the program before the drying cycle begins, open the door and let the dishes drip dry to save on electric costs.

I love my dishwasher and would hate to be without it.
