I took a video of our line dance group, dancing at our recent line dancing social. The sound on the video is not very good. I'd like to overwrite the audio with a better version of the same song, is this possible? What software would I need?

"took a video"

How? with what? what format is the video in, is it on a tape?, a DVD? a computer file.... what?

Just saying "took a video" doesn't give any useful information to help us answer your question.

I took the video using my Nikon Coolpix camera (not video camera). Its original format was .AVI but I converted it to Mp4 on the laptop. It is still on my laptop, not on a disc or a tape. I hope this info helps.

I mean, my camera can take videos although it is not a video camera or camcorder.
Windows movie maker (free download) will allow you to delete the track and then add a new track.
Chuck beat me to it.
You'll probably already have windows movie maker installed on your computer... this video is how to get started with it.
